On December 21, 1968, "Wichita Lineman" hit No. 1 on the charts. Written by the legendary Jimmy Webb, Glen Campbell recorded “Wichita Lineman” in 1968. It is widely considered the “first existential country song.” It hit #1 on 4 different Billboard charts and is included on Rolling Stone’s list of “500 Greatest Songs Of All Time” in 2021. It was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame a couple years ago and in 2019, the Library of Congress selected to preserve it in the National Recording Registry
